Twitch is the platform I use to stream video games to the world. No seriously, I live in Florida and I have viewers that live in India, Croatia, Switzerland, Australia, United Kingdom and all over the United States. Worldwide viewership was not one of my goals when I started my Twitch life but I do find it fascinating that I have the opportunity to have friendships across the world thanks to video games and Twitch. When I started, my only goal was to achieve Affiliate status.

Affiliate Requirements

  • 15 Hours Streamed*
  • 3 Average Viewers*
  • Stream 7 Different Days*

*Over the last 30 days

I received the congratulations email from Twitch within the minimum 7 days of streaming. Is it easy? Yes. Is it hard? Yes. It is hard if you don’t have goals set and you are just turning on the stream whenever you want and hoping someone discovers you. It is easy if you build up to your streams with Networking and get your friends and family to help with the average viewers.

Affiliate Recipe

  • Stream for 2 hours each stream (add one hour to one of your streams to get to 15 total)
  • Stream 3 times a week
  • Watch your live stream on a computer and have 2 friends or family members watch
  • Network on your off days to gain genuine followers
  • Ask for help from the streamers you connect with

Follow that recipe and you will have your Affiliate status in the first 7 streams and you will have accomplished a huge goal. Why is this goal that important? Once you reach Affiliate, you can earn money in more ways than just donations. Viewers can support you financially by subscribing to your channel, cheering with bits, gifting subscriptions and much more.

Now You’re Making Money Streaming On Twitch, So What Do You Do With It?

After reaching Affiliate and getting your first payout from Twitch, it’s time to celebrate! It is also time to decide what to do with your new and future earnings. Take some time to enjoy the feeling of accomplishing your goals of starting to stream and then becoming a Twitch Affiliate. Next up is Twitch Partner. Becoming a Partner has some huge requirements (average of 75 viewers) and it is also subjective, meaning that Twitch analyzes your channel and gets to decide if they want to partner with you. Since it takes even more time, effort and good goal setting to reach Partner, we will discuss the keys to success in future posts. Until next time,
